I really wonder how viable this whole 6 month release cycle really is. To me Nightfall looks more and more like a cookie cutter kinda game, it doesn't stand out very much in terms of much different, and it just seems like they are rolling out the same thing and piling on the sameness with a vengence. For new players it's probably great, but I'd have preferred a tighter game less missions and quests, and more work on an auction house, storage, lfg system,...etc, or heck just fewer missions and quests. I can't imagine dragging 4+ characters through Nightfall in six months and doing all the side quests on the mainland, and also have fun just mucking around ingame.
Sure people say don't do the side quests, but what's the point of putting quests in a game, just so people can say screw it, abandon them.
This is the first online game I've ever played but most off-line ones I've played have stretched it to a number II or III before quietly dying. Usually they just run out of ideas, and either release something much the same as the previous ones or they just release something that doesn't really work. GW tends to fall into the former for me, but at least it has the online fan base to support more tries. Having a place to vent frustations is extremely theraputic, and it's easy to see how this can be the difference between somebody just quietly shelving a game and giving it another go.
I can't say I'm expecting very much for the winter update either. I kinda think Nightfall looks like what a development team can reasonably do in a year. And what's the elite mission gonna have in it anyway, another 20/20 +30hp weapon? Ah well, I'm happy to wait and see what happens....

Because duh everything in this game is about loot of course that makes sense

I meant that the loot gets a bit same-ish after a while
Tombs => Victor's Battle Axe = 20/20, 15^50, +30hp axe
The Deep => Kanaxai's Axe = 20/20, 15^50, +30hp axe
NightFall Elite mission => <Insert Axe Name> = 20/20, 15^50, + 30hp axe
Sure it's nice to get, and it might look good on my heroes but, after you've got one with those stats, why get another?

Just to be constructive. I wouldn't mind if there was other loot that made it worthwhile, maybe 5 gold chests at the end. For me just having the same old green at the end doesn't make the elite mission stand out from the others.

I don't know about you but I never really did The Deep for the loot. The initial challenge of figuring it out was more than enough incentive for me to go down there.

The heroes given to non-Elonaians should at least be level 15 just like the henchies in the first mission you are expected to use them in. An Elonian by that point will be around that level (or well above) and his heroes should be about tha tlevel as well. Having a level 2 Koss and level 6 Donkey (for that mission) is as about as braindead as having level 28 monsters in the Lion's Arch area with low level henchies. I doubt it's the lead designer's fault, but someone working under him quite frankly just isn't that smart and doesn't appear to think things through. Either that or he's just biding his time till he gets off work and doesn't really care (job burnout).

I play this for two things, loot and fun and I need both, because both go hand in hand with me. If no loot, then I have no fun. If I'm grinding loot though, I also have no fun. But if I'm getting loot and doing it in a fun area non grindwise then it's good. So basically everywhere I go is mainly for fun and loot because no other reason to play this game than loot. oh and fun of course, but mostly loot.
